MU Health Care is seeking a highly skilled and licensed Mechanical and Electrical Health Facilities Engineer, to join our dynamic team.
For the position we are seeking to fill, we need a registered engineer who is capable of producing and sealing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings for in-house design projects

Location : Columbia, Missouri
Shift : Monday Friday, 8am to 4 : 30pm
Department : Planning, Design and Construction
Salary Range : $78,520 to $127,692 (pay is based on experience)
Responsibilities :
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including architects, contractors, stakeholders, and facility managers to develop comprehensive mechanical and electrical engineering solutions for new construction, renovation, infrastructure upgrade, and expansion projects.
Conduct thorough assessments of existing mechanical and electrical systems, identifying opportunities for improvement, energy efficiency, and cost optimization.
Develop, review, and sign and seal engineering design documents, including plans, specifications, and calculations, ensuring compliance with applicable Health Care specific codes, standards, and regulations.
Provide technical expertise and guidance in selecting, installing, and commissioning mechanical and electrical equipment and systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical distribution, lighting, low voltage, fire alarm, fire protection, and life safety systems.
Perform feasibility studies and cost analyses for proposed projects, assisting in the development of project budgets, timelines, cost estimates, and resource allocations.
Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with engineered plans and specifications.
Collaborate with project managers to evaluate contractor bids and proposals, ensuring they align with project requirements and quality standards.
Participate in commissioning activities, including functional testing, system balancing, and performance verification of mechanical and electrical systems.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise during project implementation, addressing any mechanical or electrical issues that may arise.
- Stay updated on emerging trends, advancements, and best practices in mechanical and electrical engineering, incorporating innovative solutions into projects when appropriate.
- May complete unit / department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or electromechanical engineering.
- Experience with electrical systems and mechanical systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure by the Missouri Board for Professional
Engineers (APELSLA) within six (6) months as a condition of continued employment
in this job classification.
Preferred Qualifications :
Master's degree in engineering.
Engineering experience in a healthcare setting.
Additional license / certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
