We are seeking an experienced and skilled Cook to join our team at a nursing home in Gardena, CA. As a Cook, you will play a crucial role in preparing nutritious and delicious meals for our residents while adhering to dietary restrictions and ensuring high standards of food safety and hygiene.
Responsibilities :
- Prepare and cook meals according to established menus and dietary guidelines, considering special dietary needs and restrictions of residents.
- Collaborate with the dietary team to plan and create well-balanced, appealing, and culturally sensitive meals.
- Ensure that food is prepared, cooked, and presented in a timely manner while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Monitor portion sizes and food presentation to ensure a visually pleasing and appetizing dining experience.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including regular cleaning of equipment, utensils, and work areas.
- Follow food safety protocols and hygiene regulations to prevent foodborne illnesses and maintain a safe cooking environment.
- Keep inventory of food supplies, ordering ingredients as needed and properly storing perishable items.
- Assist in the development of new menu items, taking into account resident preferences and nutritional requirements.
- Attend training sessions and workshops to stay updated on food safety, nutrition, and culinary trends.
- Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude while working with the kitchen and dining room staff.
Qualifications :
- Proven experience as a Cook, preferably in a healthcare or nursing home setting.
- Knowledge of dietary restrictions, special diets, and nutritional guidelines.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and procedures.
- Culinary training and certification from a recognized institution is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift heavy pots, and perform other kitchen-related tasks.
