About this opportunity :
The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Regional Music Coordinator for the Central Maryland Area Command, under the Potomac Division.
Qualified candidates will organize, develop, and coordinate corps music and creative arts programs for the Corps within the Central Maryland Area Command.
Daily duties will vary from corps to corps as necessary but will include conducting weekly rehearsals, teaching private and group lessons, providing ministry / performance opportunities, conducting corps music-leader training, planning, and conducting regional music and arts events.
The Regional Music Coordinator will also assist in writing grant proposals and soliciting donations, recruiting volunteers, establishing partnerships with local colleges, universities, and arts organizations, supervising staff of volunteers, aiding, and participating in the Divisional Music & Arts program as approved by the Area Commander in advance.
What we are looking for in you :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Music Education or related field, AND three (3) years teaching experience;
OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Valid State Driver’s License
Safe from Harm Compliant
CPR Certified
Bona fide Qualifications :
Must be an active Salvation Army Soldier and attend worship at The Salvation Army.
LIVING & TRAVEL
Must live in or near the region served in order to be conveniently available to the assigned corps.
Must be willing to undertake significant weekly travel in order to reach assigned corps and perform necessary duties. Mileage compensation for business use of a personal vehicle will be given.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to read and hear music notes.
Ability to play musical instruments.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time while leading a musical group.
Physical requirements include lifting and carrying objects that at times may be in excess
of 50 lbs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is typically performed in a normal church environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
However, there are times when performing job related duties outdoors will be required.
Due to the nature of this position, the work hours are flexible according to the needs of local units and may include evenings and weekend work.
