Lead Sterile Processing Tech at Baylor Surgicare Fort Worth I :

• The Sterile Processing Technician cares for and maintains all surgical instrumentation and sets up supplies and instruments for surgery cases.
• The Lead Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for supervising and assisting with the cleaning and sterilizing of all items pertinent to the operations of the center.
• Makes decisions regarding sterilization department needs and communicates appropriate information to other team members and / or leaders.
• Helps maintain equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of the unit as a whole.
• May have additional responsibilities as designed by the Clinical Director / Facility Administrator, which include, but are not limited to, serving on committees, participating in quality improvement audits, and projects.

Required Skills

Qualifications :

• Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician - CRCST (preferred)
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• BLS certification preferred.

Required Experience

Experience :

• At least 4 years' experience as a SPD / Instrument Room Technician in multiple specialties.
• Experience with all types of sterilizers.
• Knows operating room instrumentation.
• Organized in setting up operating room instrument tray.
• Understands operation of steam / gravity sterilizer.
• Understands Sterrad sterilizers.
• Ability to prepare reports and keep records.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
