The National Center for Families Learning, a private nonprofit organization located in Louisville, KY, is seeking a Content Specialist, Family Literacy to provide subject matter expertise on trends and issues involving family literacy with a focus on Adult Education.
The Content Specialist, Family Literacy will support projects and develop content using research-based practices intended to raise academic achievement and outcomes for adult learners.
The Content Specialist, Family Literacy will create high-quality professional development based upon these research-based practices.
Strong writing skills, technology skills, and interpersonal skills are critical attributes of this position as is experience working with diverse populations.
This is a remote position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to content creation on family literacy-related efforts including toolkits, manuals, workshops, handouts, reports, briefs, and other educational materials used by families, partners, and communities
- Effectively communicates with educators and partners in both written and oral formats
- Stay abreast of current research regarding family literacy to inform program content and design
- Participates as a team member in the development and design of content on a variety of efforts which may include
- New programs focusing on family literacy with a focus on Adult Education
- Opportunities to develop, refine, and promote NCFL's family literacy practices with a focus on Adult Education
- Provides technical writing of online and print training materials
- Continuously collaborate and debrief with a team of Content and Training Specialists in regular cycles for purposes of continuous improvement
- Recognizes and leverages appropriate opportunities to advance the work in the field of family literacy
- Attends organization and industry-related meetings, as required
- Establishes individual goals which are aligned with NCFL's mission and vision
- Functions as a contributing member of work teams as assigned
- Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Hold a bachelor's degree at minimum with a strong background in education; a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience;
Master's degree preferred
- A strong and highly proficient technical knowledge in adult learning theory, adult education, and family literacy
- Demonstrate proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English and other languages as applicable
- Demonstrate experience in designing high-quality educational materials
- Demonstrate experience and knowledge in program development and implementation
- Hold a strong and highly proficient technical knowledge in family leadership
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with diverse audiences ensuring all participants feel respected and valued
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously, individually and with a team
- Effectively utilize technology in an educational environment including Google Suite, Microsoft, and Zoom
- An unwavering belief that all families want the best for their children and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity
- Proven track record of ambitious results in previous roles
- Self-awareness, a regular practice of reflection, and a desire to continuously improve
- Skilled at collaborative action planning and execution
- Travel approximately 30% of time including occasional evenings and weekends
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Prolonged period of sitting at a desk and working at a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times
- Communicating with others to exchange information
- Ability to travel
Salary range $50,000-$60,000
