JOB FUNCTIONS :
Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Responsible for personal safety and a safe work environment by making and sharing safety observations and correcting unsafe behaviors and conditions.
- Responsible for assisting mill operations to ensure compliance with environmental requirements and regulations in the area.
- Provide strategic guidance and support in the areas of operator skills and knowledge, annual outage planning, capital project planning, and maintenance / reliability effectiveness to achieve the corporate business goals for the assets.
- Provide troubleshooting support in the mills as needed.
- Identify energy efficiency opportunities and develop operating strategies to improve energy costs.
- Participate in reviewing data and providing commentary for the company’s Environmental, Stewardship and Governance reporting.
- Collect data and issue monthly benchmarking reports to track key performance of the assets with respect to safety, cost, quality, and productivity.
- Improve standard work systems such as trouble cause correction guide, standard operating procedures, startup / shutdown checklists and centerlines for the assets.
- Coach, teach, mentor, and perform assessments and audits of the boiler assets to ensure compliance to Graphic Packaging International standards as well as industry standards for BLRBAC, ASME, and NFPA.
- Track recommended corrective actions identified by the insurance company to completion by working with the mills to develop plans for successful resolution as well as outage extension request approval to the insurance company from the mills.
- Establish and maintain currency in existing and emerging boiler technologies relevant to Graphic Packaging International’s business competitiveness.
- Identify and execute value creation projects with the mills through your influence and leadership.
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE :
- Minimum of five (10) years’ experience in the operation, maintenance or design / field engineering for Power Boilers and Recovery Boilers in paper mills.
- Candidates must possess the ability to manage and coordinate multiple tasks, an understanding of team development concepts, a demonstrated ability to contribute as an individual and work in a team environment, as well as an established skill to execute work based on standards and procedures.
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE :
- Bachelor’s Degree (technical) preferred but experience as a leader to operate and maintain Power Boiler and Recovery Boiler systems to high standards will be considered.
- Qualified candidates must possess a solid understanding of Power Boiler and Recovery Boiler operations, maintenance, reliability practices and standards.
REQUIRED SKILLS : Skills include but not limited to the following.
- Effective written and verbal communications skills
- Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office Software, Excel, Word, and Outlook
SCHEDULE DEMANDS :
- Overnight travel to include flying and or driving that will require a minimum 65% time away from home.
- Support for annual outages may require extended stays (up to three weeks) away from home.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
- Sitting or standing for extended periods.
- Climbing stairs and ladders.
- Occasional Lifting up to 20 lbs.
- Reading computer screen or other electronic devices.
- Use of various office hand and electrical tools or equipment.
