The Mental Health Counselor Academic Year provides mental health counseling for Colorado State University students. The position involves mostly brief, solution-focused individual therapy, group therapy and daytime on-call counseling services in a high-volume, integrated healthcare facility.

Clinical supervision and campus outreach responsibilities may also be assigned depending on the current needs of the agency.

This position is time limited to a one-year appointment, with renewal for another year, depending upon available funds. The position works a set weekly schedule, with a defined number of hours per week (24-40) during the academic year.

This position is not scheduled to work 13-14 weeks during the summer; however, may be required to attend a full week of training and the all-staff meeting sometime during this 13-14 week period nearing the start of the fall semester.

This position is eligible for annual leave, sick leave, and paid holidays, prorated for part-time employees at the University who work 50% or greater.

The full-time, 12-month salary is $57, $83,. The salary is commensurate with licensure, experience, and qualifications. The salary will be adjusted by the number of hours worked per week and the academic year (38-39 weeks).

Unlicensed staff will receive clinical supervision; however, supervision for all types of masters degrees is not guaranteed.

Licensure is expected within one year of employment for a licensed Psychologist and within two years of employment for a LPC, LMFT, or LCSW.

This position reports directly to the Assistant Director of Academic Year Counseling Services. Required Job Qualifications Education

Completed masters degree or doctorate in mental health counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, counseling psychology or closely related field

Licensure

Applicable mental health license acquired in Colorado, or the ability to obtain one (within one year of employment for a licensed Psychologist and within two years of employment for a LPC, LMFT, or LCSW)

Experience

  • Experience providing individual and group mental health counseling
  • Experience in working with clients of diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated experience using an Electronic Health Record system

Preferred Job Qualifications Licensure

Applicable mental health license acquired in Colorado : licensed Psychologist, LPC, LMFT, or LCSW

Experience

  • Experience providing individual and group mental health counseling in a University Counseling Center setting
  • Experience, competence, and cultural humility in working with clients of diverse backgrounds, including BIPOC, LGBTQIA, first-generation, undocumented, and international students
  • Experience working in an integrated healthcare facility
  • Experience providing daytime on-call walk in services
  • Experience providing outreach and consultation
  • Post graduate experience caring for college population
  • Experience in the use of brief, solution-focused approaches to treatment
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
