The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Columbia University Irving Medical Center Division of Infectious Diseases seeks a highly organized and motivated individual to coordinate patient access and support clinical and research programs focused on infectious diseases, including Long COVID, HIV, and Infection Associated Chronic Illnesses (IACI).

The ideal candidate will collaborate with diverse clinical and research teams to advance patient-centered care and health equity initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming calls, directing inquiries efficiently.
  • Conduct data entry for Long COVID, antimicrobial, and IACI registries.
  • Schedule patient appointments, including coordinating referrals and discharge planning.
  • Screen new patient inquiries, gather medical records, and facilitate appointment scheduling.
  • Triage referrals for Long COVID and other research studies.
  • Coordinate patient care, including scheduling appointments, imaging studies, and communicating with care teams.
  • Prepare patient correspondence, such as letters of medical necessity and insurance inquiries.
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-certifications.
  • Adhere to HIPAA, billing, and safety guidelines.
  • Perform financial transactions as needed.
  • Provide administrative support for smooth clinical operations.
  • Perform additional duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, training and experience.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work assignments and environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in infectious diseases or clinical research.
  • Knowledge of REDCap database.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
  • Phlebotomy training.
  • Familiarity with patients with infectious diseases.

Other Requirements

  • On-site presence five days per week.
  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements.
