Fiber Splicer

A successful Fiber Splicer will properly terminate, splices, and preps fiber optic cable within a telecommunications system.

Will know telecommunication network structure; familiar with fiber optic cable, splice enclosures and functionality of each;

perform OTDR and test fusion splicing equipment. Can read and interpret existing fiber matrices; troubleshoot and perform maintenance to resolve signal problems.

Role Overview : A successful Fiber Splicer will properly terminate, splices, and preps fiber optic cable within a telecommunications system.

Will know telecommunication network structure; familiar with fiber optic cable, splice enclosures and functionality of each;

perform OTDR and test fusion splicing equipment. Can read and interpret existing fiber matrices; troubleshoot and perform maintenance to resolve signal problems.

Pay : $24 - $38 / hour Responsibilities : Read and interpret, input, and analyze data with a high degree of accuracy and completeness.

Must be self-motivated and able to work within time constraints Operates technical Equipment, including but not limited computer, OTDR and fusion slicing equipment, and functionality Must have knowledge of fiber optic color codes.

Interprets prints in underground and aerial environment. Completes daily production reports of work performed Must be detail oriented and proficient with paperwork Ability to use proper use of hand tools, ladders, and equipment to assist in the completion of assigned projects Cleans and maintains supplies, tools, equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations Lifts and manipulates splice enclosure and other plant and equipment Work safely, with or without supervision Excellent manual dexterity Ability to work in cramped and or enclosed spaces for extended periods Work aloft, from a ladder, aerial lift device, or by gaffing All other duties as assigned Qualifications : Minimum of 2 years’ experience with splicing fiber optic Familiar with hand tools and equipment (Wrenches, Drills, Ladders, Lanyards, Forklifts, Saws, etc.

Owns basic hand tools Must be able to lift and pull cable (70 pounds) Ability to apply reasoning and understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions Ability to work in emergencies at night and weekends if needed including but not limited holidays and extending days.
