Job Description

The English Language Arts Curriculum Specialist works closely with other Curriculum Specialists, as well as Visual Design, Print Design, Media, Editorial, User Experience, and production support team members to create instructional content, including writing, storyboarding, and reviewing lesson activities, assessments, and instructional guides to meet the goals of specified learning objectives.

The Curriculum Specialist will ensure all curriculum aligns with Science of Reading research. They may also be asked to participate in the early blueprinting / prototyping phases of a project, contribute new ideas to products and processes, and work to ensure quality and consistency throughout a project.

The Curriculum Specialist will also support customer communication around the use of the curriculum.

As a seasoned professional, they are technically credible and skilled at applying knowledge in their discipline to solutions and can adhere to industry principles as defined by evidence-based practices and the Company's style guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Evaluate, create, and revise content to align with Science of Reading research.
  • Collaborate to determine the strategic approach to course structure, and help create and maintain Scope and Sequences for new courses across one or more grade levels.
  • Collaborate on the planning of content modules and design materials for multi-year curriculum to meet content standards.
  • Coordinate with other Curriculum Specialists, Design teams, and production support teams to develop prototypes and templates for activities and lessons (online and offline).
  • Plan and write text designed to guide a non-specialist adult through the steps needed to coach a student through a lesson.
  • Develop and revise storyboards, assessments, and hands-on activities in collaboration with other team members.
  • Design and write content for instructional soundness, pace of presentation, age-appropriateness, consistency of tone and style, accessibility, and general readability.
  • Provide visual design specifications (including storyboards) for corresponding graphics, photos, illustrations, and animations.
  • Work with Visual Designers to create and develop interactive assets and materials, as well as develop visual standards relating to content.
  • Upload content into various corporate systems, such as Learnosity, BrightSpot, OLS, DAM, and Sharepoint.
  • Consult with Shared Services (e.g., editors, production leads, visual designers) to discuss standards and consistency of content, style, visuals, and documents, coordinating content across units and lessons.
  • Participate in usability testing of instructional materials and incorporate testing results into content design.
  • React to feedback from users and academic reviewers.
  • Stay apprised of current research and best practices related to curriculum, instructional design, and assessment.
  • Train / mentor new and / or junior Curriculum Specialists.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Five (5) years of experience in learning product development.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Organizational and project leadership ability.
  • Strong technology skills, use of media and instructional design techniques.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; good interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with creativity, independence, and high standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish objectives, identify problems, analyze data, and creatively deliver solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on large-scale projects and adapt to new environments and meet new challenges head on.
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
  • Ability to clear required background check.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, education, or related field.
  • Two (2) years experience in a lead position driving production workflows.
  • Subject matter expertise, and product development experience in Science of Reading.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is virtual and open to residents of the 50 states and Washington, D.C.

Compensation & Benefits

Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level.

Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections.

Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range. We anticipate the salary range to be $68,572.50 to $109,716.00.

The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors.

These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions.

Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
