JOB SUMMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provides inpatient and outpatient otolaryngology services for The Queen’s Medical Center (QMC) through direct patient care and teaching and supervision of residents from the University of Hawaii, John A.
Burns School of Medicine and assigned residents and / or students from other programs.
Demonstrates commitment and interest in the clinical and surgical aspects of general otolaryngology in the hospital and private sector settings.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Provides the full range of diagnostic, therapeutic and operative otolaryngology surgery / procedures for patients in the outpatient, inpatient and operative settings.
- Shares otolaryngology services on-call coverage for the Medical Center according to current protocol.
- Provides oversight, training, and teaching for assigned residents in a clinical and academic setting, including clinical instruction, surgical techniques, and general lectures.
- Provides oversight of mid-level Providers, including Physician Assistants (PAs) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs)
- Manages the clinical responsibilities and duties of inpatient and outpatient work areas of the Medical Center.
- Participates in call schedule(s), performing a specified number of unrestricted call days, per month, as determined by the applicable Medical Director or his / her designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
- Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or EC FMG certification.
- Residency training in otolaryngology.
- Board certified or board qualified in Otolaryngology. If board qualified, board certification within two (2) years of employment.
- Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii.
- During the period of employment, shall be and remain a member of the QMC Medical Staff in good standing with appropriate privileges without restriction.
- Two (2) years of inpatient and outpatient experience in a multi-hospital health system setting preferred.
- Qualified for an appointment on the faculty of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, preferred.
Base salary begins at $425,547 / year with opportunity for productivity and quality incentives.
