JobSummary

The Licensed Practical Nurse(LPN) provides professional nursing care for residents of all agesin long term care, under the supervision of a registered nurse,advanced practice provider, or physician.

Demonstrates knowledge ofnursing principles for the resident in the relevant clinicalsetting. Demonstrates competency and practices within the fullscope of nursing expertise / knowledge and utilizes appropriate ageand population specific standards related to the physical andpsychosocial needs of the resident as per care plan.

Possess theability to perform testing to evaluate data reflective of theresident's status and to provide the care needed.

Demonstratesability to recognize problems, recommend solutions and respondeffectively to assist in an emergentsituation.

Ensures the health, comfort andsafety of residents. Contributes to the assessment of residents andadministers medications or treatments as ordered.

Providestechnical support to healthcare professionals as needed. Documentsresident interactions as needed and the outcomes related toresident care, medication, behavior, activity, and dietary.

Skilledin establishing and maintaining effective working relationshipswith resident, health care providers, and the public.

Ability towork effectively with professional and supportive personnel as amember of an interdisciplinary care team. Ability to communicateclearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Counsels residents, family members and / or resident advocate, underthe direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider orphysician on prevention and treatment plans.

Knowledge of residenteducation principles to develop a self-care program. Performs otherrelated duties asassigned.

Qualifications

Graduatefrom an accredited practical nursing program as a LicensedPractical Nurse. Associate degree in practical nursing ispreferred.

If position requires IVtherapy / management skills, the following is required in NorthDakota : graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IVtherapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapycourse approved by the North Dakota Board ofNursing.

Must have attended a pre-licensurenursing program that included supervised clinical experience acrossthe life span as part of the curriculum or have had a minimum of400 hours of experience as LPN at another facility.

Specificservices / positions may have additional education, training orexperience requirements.

Currently holds anunencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with StateNursing board and / or possess multi-state licensure privileges.

Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specificcompetencies and certifications. Completes required annualcontinuing education units (CEU) and competency trainingrequirements of the department andfacility.
