DINING MACHINERY MECHANIC

POSITION PURPOSE
Perform maintenance, refurbishment, and repair of UW Dining and HFS Residential Facilities and equipment.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
- Using working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and machinist skills, perform preventive maintenance and repair of equipment including, but not limited to, hood systems, steamers, kettles, woks, skillets, induction burners, warmers, ranges, pressure cookers, fryers, coffee brewers, espresso machines, mixers, slicers, pastry and display cases, walk-in and reach-in coolers, and dish machines.
- Triage and respond to UW Dining work orders, including coordinating with UW Facilities Services electricians, refrigeration mechanics, plumbers, and other trades as well as contractors when needed.
- Perform espresso machine calibration, hood filter replacement, and hood auto wash system programming.
- Process and manage work orders using computerized work management system.
- Respond to emergencies in kitchen and dining facilities during scheduled hours.
- Support and escort contractors brought in to perform preventive maintenance and repair work.
- Drive service truck as required to load and unload materials and supplies.
- Complete service calls in a timely manner and communicate effectively with customers, managers, leads etc.
- Order parts and complete related administrative tasks.
- Attend and engage in training sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Full journey status as a Machinery Mechanic by work experience, vocational or trade school, or apprenticeship programs, or any combination of the above;
or four years of applied work experience. Vocational training may substitute for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
Equivalent education / experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license / certification / registration.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working in commercial dining, food, and hospitality.
- Experience performing maintenance and repairs on commercial kitchen equipment.
- Strong electrical, mechanical skills and customer communication skills.
- Experience working directly with customers or clients.
- Commercial Food Equipment Service Association training or certification.
- Experience working in a multi-tenant residential or university environment.
- Experience working with diverse populations.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- A satisfactory outcome from the employment verification and reference check processes.
- Possession of a valid State of Washington Driver's License. (This position will need to use a university vehicle to transport equipment and supplies to locations on the Seattle campus).
WORKING CONDITIONS
This position will work 4x10 hour days, Tuesday - Friday, starting at 7 : 30AM. Shift may change based on operational needs throughout the academic year.
