Job Summary :
Under the direction of the Radiologist, the Nuclear Medicine Technologist independently performs a variety of routine and complex nuclear medicine scans utilizing radiopharmaceuticals for the purpose of evaluating and diagnosing abnormalities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities :
- Responsible for receipt, storage, handling and use of radioactive material doses.
- Administers diagnostic radiopharmaceuticals.
- Reviews physician order and collects patient history.
- Performs imaging procedures on a gamma camera and post processing functions..
- Coordinates stress test imaging with the cardiopulmonary dept.
- Quality control testing on the camera , dose calibrator, room and survey meters is required.
- Coordinates patient information with PACS and EMR to save data and radiation dose.
- Coordinates with vendors for service and notifies manager with any equipment issues
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications :
Education
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience
One year of experience preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations
- Certified in BLS or CPR
- Certified by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency in Nuclear medicine.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.
Skills and Abilities
- IV access
- Radiation safety protocols.

This position is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Employees in non-exempt positions are entitled to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a workweek in accordance with state and federal regulations.
