UX Product Copywriter
Life-Event Concierge Platform - New York, NY
Freelance / Contract
The Hired Guns are seeking a UX Product Copywriter for a tightly-knit team that makes one of life’s most stressful experiences easy and reassuring for the user.
If you have a kick-ass UX portfolio and a knack for consumer conversion, here’s your chance to join a dog-friendly office with its own bar where you’ll define the voice of a market share so big it’s fought Godzilla.
Nitty Gritty
As the first UX Product Copywriter at this rapidly expanding disruptor (yeah, we said it), you’ll convert its cheerful, fun-loving camaraderie into copy that takes all the tension out of a long, arduous process.
You’ll get users hyped about new ways to quickly accomplish their tasks saving 94% of the time they would otherwise take.
Since this is a small company doing big business, you’ll work closely with well, everyone, but especially its new VP of Product, who will keep you connected with the design and strategy teams.
That focus will occupy about half of your 20 or so hours per week, with the other being a more freewheeling use of your talents wherever they’re needed in relation to the rest of the crew.
Onsite is ideal here, but remote work is an option for great candidates.
As this beast from the Northeast grows its free concierge service into related areas, you’ll chart a merry course down the conversion funnel for the incoming customer base.
You’ll quickly narrow that down into super-tight copy, while you apply what you’re learning to build a style guide from scratch.
Your job is to set user expectations before the platform knocks them out of the park.
What Success Looks Like
So how are you going to do that? Testing, testing one, two, three (and possibly even four). This company’s success is built on A / B tests, and they want you to try unabashedly strong, smart messaging to discover what resonates at each stage.
Using this platform is a one-off experience, at least for the next few years, so your conversion efforts are driven entirely towards convincing first-timers what only this platform can offer.
Sure, it’s the hardest reader to reach, but you know how to sell the sizzle.
If you come up with findings on how to boost customer reacquisition, you’ll be going above and beyond here. Good job, you!
Hired Gun Profile
You’re a veteran UX writer for a B2B or B2C platform, who’s ideally also notched some design writing and strategy. Flexibility is great, since you converse with all the different teams.
You like understanding the connections between each part and how they relate to the end user. The important thing is you know how to guide not sell! consumers to a conversion point that solves a real-world need of their own.
You’re available immediately, and you’re ready to hit the ground running. You’re also a good enough copywriter to rewrite the previous sentence without using cliches.
Net-Net
This is a career milestone opportunity to define the tone of a service that helps people in a space that has yet to be delineated.
Its reach is growing as fast as its persona. Do it well, and this contract position could be your springboard to full-time. And again : dogs.
