We are seeking a motivated individual to join our CA - Columbia site's Technical Engineering team based in Gaston, SC. The ideal candidate for the Technical Process Engineer will be results driven, motivated by technical challenges;

they will use their excellent interpersonal communication, organization, as demonstrated analytical problem solving skills provide project management and technical support for capital projects.

Responsibilities The Technical Process Engineer will be reportable to the Technical Manager and have responsibilities for the following tasks :

  • Provide technical support to day to day resins plant operations.
  • Serve on or lead teams responsible for long-term process improvement planning and cost savings and / or reliability projects.
  • Interact with support groups to develop and implement solutions to complex product, process and equipment problems.
  • Participate and lead in design, installation, startup and operation of a variety of chemical process equipment.
  • Responsible for initiation of product and process related ideas that generate improvement projects throughout the polyester stream.
  • Evaluate new product, process and / or requirement applications and recommend and implement improvements to existing product, equipment or processes.
  • Assist in check out and start-up on new processes and equipment.

Required Skills Required

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Chemical Engineering
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems and to innovate.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication / interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with operators, technicians and other engineers.
  • Self-motivated to initiate improvement plans.
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines and delivering results.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding technical manuals and engineering documentation.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project etc.)
  • Able to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Able to participate in Plant Operations Duty Call rota.

Preferred

  • 2+ years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing facility
  • Project Management, SAP, PI and DCS experience
