We have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Tax Senior Accountant . The Tax Senior is responsible for the preparation of complex tax compliance and consulting engagements.
They are knowledgeable in a wide range of accounting services and help lead Staff on basic engagements and often perform a detailed first review on projects.
Responsibilities :
- Applies strong technical tax accounting knowledge of partnerships, corporations, s-corporations on consulting and compliance engagements.
- Accurately prepares complex S-Corporation, C-Corporation, partnership, multistate and individual tax returns.
- Prepares and reviews income tax projections and estimate calculations for clients.
- Performs research and writes technical memorandum in a readable format.
- Researches and prepares work papers for various book to tax differences.
- Maintains open communication with engagement management regarding the progress of completion on projects.
- Manages time effectively by completing projects within communicated budget / deadlines.
- Develops effective working relationships with clients and firm associates.
- Efficiently reviews tax returns from Staff as a first reviewer.
- Can identify potential tax issues during planning of engagement.
- Confidently responds to federal and state notices.
- Delivers highest level of customer service to clients.
- Streamline procedures and offer recommendations on how the tax filing process can run more efficiently.
- Actively participates in training and developmental opportunities.
- Supports Staff and Interns in professional development.
- Overtime is required during tax season (January through April) and around other tax deadlines.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 2 + years of tax experience is required.
- Recent work experience with an accounting firm.
- Advanced knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements.
- Experience in Corporate, S-Corp. and / or Partnership returns.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, proven time management and organizational skills.
- Computer expertise including knowledge of tax software and technology.
- Desire to learn to learn and meet new challenges.
- Commitment to teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications :
- 2-5 years of experience in federal tax consulting and / or compliance experience in public accounting.
- Master's degree in Taxation (150-hour requirement threshold should be satisfied or a specific plan in place)
- Licensed CPA and / or actively preparing for the CPA exam.
- Working proficiency in CCH Axcess, CCH Fixed Assets, CaseWare Working Papers, and SurePrep.
- Tax planning and multi-state taxation.
