FDD Action Government Relations Communications Associate

FDD Action is seeking to hire a communications professional to produce varied communications products associated with our government relations and policy work.

FDD Action is a non-partisan 501(c)(4) organization established to advocate for effective policies to promote U.S. national security and defend free nations.

FDD Action combines policy analysis and direct advocacy to propose and support policy solutions to national security challenges confronting the United States and its allies.

The right applicant will be knowledgeable and passionate about national security issues, be a very strong writer, have experience creating a range of communications products, and be very well organized.

At least one year of after-college work experience desirable. Must be a team player and enjoy collaborating with others and have a creative, "I can figure that out" approach to work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft and execute a myriad of effective communications products for congressional staffers;
  • Manage website content;
  • Create social media content;
  • Create communications products associated with FDD Action briefings, events, and educational training;
  • Periodically draft press releases;
  • Edit development products;
  • Additional responsibilities as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, digital media, international relations, political science, public policy, journalism, or related fields;
  • Professional experience creating policy-oriented digital and other content;
  • Experience with developing website content;
  • Academic and professional experience in national security or foreign policy and a commitment to furthering FDD Action's mission;
  • Proven project management skills;
  • Professional internal and external communications skills.
