Position Description
We are looking for a Developer Advocate who will embrace and spread our accessibility mission in the developer, design and test community.
Your goal will be to cultivate trust from developers and ultimately make it easy for developers to use Deque's open source axe-core library and our industry leading automated testing tools.
This role will report into the product marketing team but is highly cross-functional and matrixed. You will work closely with product subject matter experts, engineers, our CTO, solution engineering and the marketing events team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Writing technical blog posts and articles, facilitating documentation needs.
- Study cutting-edge inclusive design and front-end engineering techniques, and apply them to articles / demos.
- Produce webinars, screencasts and videos.
- Monitor relevant social channels and slack communities.
- Submit papers and talks and get speaking sessions at developer conferences.
- Bring market and product insights / feedback to the product success task force.
- Share actionable insights on messaging with the marketing team.
- Host axe hackathons and other events to improve the community around our products and increase adoption of freemium developer products.
- Host and participate in various accessibility meet ups such as a11YCamp.
Requirements
- Experience speaking at multiple developer-focused events or as a developer advocate.
- 5-7 years of developer experience.
- At least 1 year of accessibility testing experience (preferably axe tools).
- 1-3 years of developer advocate / developer relations experience.
- Bonus : Accessibility experience and knowledge.
- Bonus : familiarity with axe-core and Deque axe DevTools.
- Ability to travel to 15-20 events a year.
