SURGICAL TECHNICIAN II

Position Summary :

We are currently seeking a PRN surgical technician / patient care technician or EMT to assist with perioperative care in our surgery center.

Primary duties include obtaining intravenous access , obtaining / assessing vital signs, glucose checks and positioning / preparing patients for surgery .

Responsibilities :

• O btain intravenous access upon patient admission
• Assists RN in admission and discharge of patients in Pre / Post surgery area.
• Obtaining supplies from other areas as needed
• Restock / Returning supplies and equipment to the appropriate location
• Measures and records vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, respiration, and

pulse

• Safely provides wheelchair assistance to patients.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for pre / post room care.
• Follows OSHA and other standards for protection against blood borne pathogens
• Maintains or acquires skills on equipment necessary to complete required responsibilities
• Informs perioperative RN of applicable day-to-day situations
• P erforming other duties as required

Qualifications :

• 3-5 years of experience
• Maintains current BCLS certification and completion of required annual in-services
• Ability to work in a surgery center environment with healthcare interactions that include patient contact, hazardous chemicals, and infectious disease under a moderate level of noise
• Must be able to understand and follow instruction with speed and accuracy
• Must be able to organize and set priority for work to be done
• Possesses manual dexterity, mobility, visual acuity, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, attendance, and good interpersonal skills
