Job purpose :

The Finance Director oversees the organization's finances, financial procedures and reporting. This position is responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring fiscal compliance, and driving agency-wide financial strategies that support the mission and growth of the organization

Duties and key responsibilities :

  • Financial Management
  • Strategic oversight, planning, policy creation and forecasting over all organization finances
  • Develop and implements financial strategy aligned with the organization's mission goals and strategic plan
  • Works closely with key stakeholders including Executive Director, Board, and Finance Committee in ensuring we are in financially secure and in compliance with all loca, state and federal regulations
  • Files and submits all non-payroll taxes
  • Creates / modifies policies and procedures including but not limited to spending approvals, internal controls, etc.
  • Financial Compliance & Accounting
  • Ensure we are following, complying, and updating our standard operating procedures and internal controls documents
  • Continue to evaluate and update our internal controls and incorporate best practices including raising risk flags through the appropriate channels
  • Training staff on financial processes and procedures
  • Hires and oversees our relationship with our finance contractors for various projects including annual audits and 990 tax filings
  • Oversees and collaborates on the development of all allocations, contract, and program budgets
  • Performs regular reconciliations across departments including LGL / Donor reconciliation, grants, and contracts
  • Provides oversight, policy creation and dual controls over all finance procedures including but not limited to reimbursements, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, basic needs, and gift cards, fixed asset management, cash-flow, prepaid management, balance sheet reconciliations, year-end closing, restricted fund schedule
  • Respond to financial correspondence and needs that arise
  • Financial Analysis & Budgeting
  • Work collaboratively with organization leadership and program staff to develop monitor and forecast,budgets, and problem solve financial pivots as needed
  • Exercise sound fiscal responsibility through a lens of mitigating financial risks and opportunities for fraud in order to protect the organization's assets and reputation
  • Works closely with the Community Engagement Team around strategic planning regarding all donor database tracking, compliance, fundraising goals, and monthly reconciliations
  • Financial Reporting
  • Works with the board and finance committee to foster financial transparency, provide financial information, and to seek input on finance policies, necessary reports, and controls
  • Work closely with Operations Director, Program Director and Finance Manager to develop system for program team oversight of spend down Project manages and supports the team in monthly spend down reports
  • Supports Finance Manager in routine reconciliation and reports across departments including P&L statements, balance sheets, board reports, annual reports, etc.
  • Provides support, reports, and program budgets needed for grants and contracts
  • Leads, supports and supervises the finance team
  • Attends all finance committee meetings & necessary board meetings
  • Monitor and evaluate financial efforts to ensure that goals are met
  • Provide supervision and support, training opportunities for the finance team
  • Cultivate a strong team culture of support, growth, and development
  • Work closely with other internal facing departments to create and streamline processes and procedures
  • Shares opportunities for professional development including attending WSCPA Nonprofit Conference and stays on top of changes within the industry
  • Supports the overall goals and mission of the department and organization
  • Attends and participates fully in all relevant meetings and committees including but not limited to all staff meetings, supervision meetings, trainings, and others
  • Provides additional support as needed for the finance team projects
  • Lead according to the Mission, Vision & Values of the organization
  • Other projects as appropriate

Desired qualifications for this position :

  • Commitment to the vision and goals of CHOOSE 180
  • 5-7 years of financial management experience
  • Must have payroll experience and mastery of QBO
  • Experience with HRIS Rippling, Rippling Spend Management, and LGL a plus
  • Experience working with or in the criminal legal system
  • Entrepreneurial and results-oriented with ability to anticipate / respond to changing circumstances / priorities
  • Strong interpersonal and customer care skills with ability to communicate successfully through multiple media channels
  • Strong attention to detail and compliance related lens
  • Ability to build and maintain policies and procedures and communicate them clearly
  • Bilingual or multilingual a plus

Working conditions :

This position is required to work some weekend days as well as attend after-hours events, and to be available for consultation when needed.

In addition, this position may be called upon and must be capable of compassionate de-escalation and crisis intervention involving youth and / or family members working through trauma.

Compensation and benefits :

CHOOSE 180 is committed to providing employees with a living wage and benefits package. The salary for this position is $87,200.
