JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Establishes and maintains all accounting systems to ensure the financial integrity of the organization.
- Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and expense management.
- Lead the process of creating annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Prepares and monitors agency-wide and program budgets, providing insights and recommendations for adjustments as needed.
- Develop and implement financial strategies and plans aligned with the agency goals and mission.
- Research financial trends, performance metrics, and market conditions to support strategic recommendations to the executive leadership.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports to the executive leadership, board of directors, and relevant committees.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and prevent fraud.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and grant funding stipulations.
- Reviews and monitors contracts and grant funds for financial compliance and reporting deadlines.
- Stay current with nonprofit financial regulations and reporting standards.
- Ensure the organization’s financial practices adhere to applicable laws and regulations, including tax-exempt status requirements.
- Prepares and monitors invoices and reporting.
- Coordinate and oversee the annual financial audit process, working with auditors to provide necessary documentation and resolve any issues.
- Prepare and submit required tax forms and filings, such as Form 990 for tax-exempt organizations.
- Coordinates banking, insurance, healthcare, long-term investments, and audit relationships.
- Manage cash flow to ensure the nonprofit’s financial stability and ability to meet its obligations.
- Acts as human resource coordinator for the agency.
- Manage and mentor the finance team, provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Foster a collaborative and results-driven environment within the finance department.
- Provide technical assistance to other organizations regarding accounting and financial systems to assist in streamlining functions.
- Other responsibilities and duties as negotiated and assigned by the Executive Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor’s degree and experience in a non-profit or similar organization as a Director of Finance or Controller.
- Experience in strategic financial planning for creating and implementing financial strategies that support the organization’s objectives.
- Proficiency in the use of QuickBooks.
- Working knowledge of grant and proposal development.
- CPA is desirable.
COMPENSATION :
Up to 150k with fantastic benefits.
