Job Description

The Department of Population Health Sciences at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the field of Epidemiology with a focus on Biosecurity, Infection Control, and / or Infectious Disease Prevention.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collaborative department dedicated to advancing knowledge in public health and population health, with an emphasis on One Health - the intersection of environmental, veterinary, and public health.

Opportunities for collaboration exist within the College of Veterinary Medicine, Carilion School of Medicine and Carilion Hospital, Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC, and New River Health District, as well as local, regional, and national partners.

Responsibilities :

1. Research : Conduct cutting-edge research in the epidemiology and control of infectious diseases. Develop and maintain an independent, externally funded research program.

Collaboration with colleagues on interdisciplinary research initiatives is highly valued.

2. Teaching : Contribute to the department's educational mission by teaching graduate and professional courses in epidemiology, biosecurity and infection control, infectious disease epidemiology, and / or related topics.

Mentor and advise graduate students and contribute to the development of innovative teaching methods.

3. Service : Engage in service activities at the department, college, and university levels. Participate in professional and community outreach.

4. Collaboration : Foster collaborations with local, regional, and national partners, including government agencies, industry, and non-profit organizations.

Contribute to the advancement of the field through active participation in professional organizations.
