Research Team Lead Position Overview :

The Research Team Lead will report to our VP, Research and be part of the team that supports the market sensing arm for all of Bespoke.

The Research team curates and executes on research strategies that identify ideal target candidates for each search which allows Bespoke Partner’s to fulfill its mission to be the best at people by attracting, retaining and growing exceptional talent.

As the Research Team Lead, you will drive the overall objectives of the business, such as team balance and staff utilization, identify patterns across the functional groups, and use that knowledge to drive strategies and support individuals in their staffing and developmental needs.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Team Lead will be responsible for managing top talent and developing their skills to rewarding their contributions and supporting career progression and mobility.

He / She will act as a holistic owner of the Research Team employment experience with a close focus on the business needs of Bespoke and the professional development of our Analyst staff.

He / She will also be responsible for driving a culture of continuous improvement and development, you will inspire your teams to achieve greatness and will lead various projects and initiatives that enable us to rapidly scale.

As a critical engine for Bespoke’s growth, the Team Lead drives overall objectives of the business (e.g. team balance and staff utilization), identify patterns across the cohort and use that knowledge to drive strategies and support individuals in their staffing and developmental needs.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Research Analyst Cohort Engagement :
  • Manage and lead a team of junior to mid-level professional towards meeting or exceeding business targets (commercial, quality, and service)
  • Monitor staff activity and participation in key aspects of morale, retention and affiliation (e.g., integration and affiliation programs, challenging searches, PTO support, etc.)
  • Employee Support & Professional Development :
  • Manage, mentor, coach and develop members of your team to elevate the function
  • Hiring and onboarding training
  • Serve as hands-on support for the team’s opportunities (i.e. scoping, staffing, resourcing, problem solving), delivering excellent client service, and maximizing market share and revenue on all Client opportunities
  • Manage day-to-day & week-to-week commercial activities by checking / setting priorities, and managing volume across the team
  • Drive continuous improvement through close coaching, role-modeling and adherence to best practices guidelines and workflows
  • Champion change and build buy-in for change amongst team; exemplify Bespoke leadership and culture in and outside the team
  • Career Navigation :
  • Set the broader mobility strategy for cohort of focus; understand all offerings and manage individual participation in various mobility programs
  • Motivate, help to develop, and provide coaching and advice to all members of the team
  • Coach and guide consulting staff throughout their employment lifecycle on career options and opportunities; act as a trusted advisor to guide individuals into mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Business Liaison and Capacity Planning :
  • Develop and implement strategy for key accounts in close collaboration with business leaders and the Business Development team
  • Collaborate with leadership to support strategic, operational, and talent initiatives by contributing to problem solving, testing and implementation
  • Optimize team design, search alignment and achievement of business priorities through a deep awareness of current available skills, bandwidths, pipeline, and firm goals;

maintain a view of staffing pipeline at a macro and micro level

  • Build strong relationships with Consulting Team staff to understand development needs, preferences and constraints for staffing;
  • discuss upcoming projects; advise on staffing choices to achieve balance between Bespoke's business needs and personal preferences if possible;

communicate staffing decisions and related rationale; set and enforce staffing policies and expectations

  • Maintain an acute awareness of business environment; openly communicate information relative to search opportunities with individuals and with Partners and teams looking to confirm staff
  • Collaborate with HR on People Operations :
  • Work with HR team to resolve issues faced by individuals; contribute thought leadership on initiatives crucial to addressing people issues
  • Manage transition support through effective communication
  • Ensure adherence to Bespoke compliance, standards, and values

Requirements & Experience

  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a team of client service professionals
  • 3-4 years of experience within a services-oriented business with direct management experience
  • Strong communication skills; able to communicate confidently, articulately; able to gain trust from senior leadership as well as more junior professionals, and serve as a broker or liaison between the two groups establishing positive and productive working relationships
  • Must be able to perform successfully in a metrics-driven, entrepreneurial, fast-paced, service-oriented environment
  • An active team player with strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills
  • Comfortable in both working in detail and understanding the big picture; able to consider the ramifications of decisions on various constituencies
  • Good judgment, professionalism, strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative style
  • Successfully working collaboratively with a strong EQ and positive attitude
  • Comfortable in resolving conflict, delivering difficult messages and addressing all people related issues
  • A quick study; a can-do attitude; a creative solution seeker with a readiness to try new approaches; decisive, pragmatic, and reason-minded
