Responsibilities
The Scheduling Coordinator Performs a variety of duties related to scheduling patients for Radiology and some ancillary services on the main hospital campus.
Pre-registers all accounts. Coordinates with doctors, staff, nurses, patients, and other medical departments while setting up appointments by phone or in-person.
The Scheduler performs all duties and function in relation to the scheduling and pre-registration of radiology exams and procedures.
Effectively handles 80-100 calls per day with minimal or no error. Scheduler communicates all relative preparation instructions to patients as necessary.
Schedules patient appointments called in by patients, physicians, and physicians offices. Ensures required laboratory testing is obtained prior to the scheduled appointment.
Obtains patient demographic and insurance information, enters into computer system. Updates information in the computer system for return patients.
Provides patient with any pre-appointment special instructions. Prepares daily patient schedules for the radiology department and other departments.
Answers the telephone in a professional and polite manner, communicates information to appropriate personnel.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent required. Minimum of one year experience as a scheduler and previous professional experience within a medical setting.
Strong communications skills (verbal / written) and fluent bilingual competencies (English / Spanish) required. Computer experience and knowledge of medical terminology required.
Must possess knowledge of radiology exams and procedures as well as working knowledge of health insurance required. Demonstrated proficiency in MS office suite of products.
