Material Handler Job Description
Primary Objective :
The Material Handler ensures that proper materials are available for the production lines and materials returned to the warehouse when jobs are complete.
Assist with maintaining accurate inventory using our inventory computer system and maintaining a clean warehouse. This is a pivotal role to the day-to-day operations.
Other duties may be assigned during down time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Strictly adheres to Company and Plant safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure raw materials, additives and colorants are properly staged and moved to production lines (jobs) and restocked as necessary.
When jobs are complete all materials are returned to the warehouse.
- Responsible for material dryer cleaning and set up.
- Put received materials into warehouse
- Help to recognize inventory discrepancies and work to resolve them.
- Empty trash dumpsters and cardboard recycling containers daily.
- Ensure work areas are kept clean
- Maintain material levels of all mixers and dryers during the manufacturing process as well as overseeing the extrusion department has all the necessary packaging supplies i.
e., crates pallets, bags etc. to meet production line requirements.
- Provide Fabrication Department with finished goods parts from the inventory as needed.
- Enter inventory data into the IFS system correctly and accurately.
- Conduct daily forklift inspection as required.
- Ability to effectively communicate with other staff to help maintain a high level of output on shift.
- Ability to consistently and correctly complete online paperwork as it relates to material handling documentation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Forklift experience.
- High School diploma or equivalent degree / certificate.
- 1+ years of warehouse experience.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with inventory systems.
- Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Able to stand for long periods of time on concrete floor
- Use of PPE required : Ear plugs, steel toe shoes, safety glasses etc.
Work Environment
- Warehouse environment, subject to outside temperatures.
- Able to walk, stand and otherwise perform job functions on concrete floors with safety boots / shoes.
- Works in manufacturing environment occasionally being exposed to dust, odors, fumes, and noise.

You should be proficient in :
