Safety Supervisor - Boston, MA
The Safety Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive environmental, safety, and health programs at our facility.
They will provide leadership, direction, and support to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as internal and external safety and environmental standards.
The Safety Supervisor will also develop and maintain relationships with employees at both the corporate and plant levels, and indirectly lead change across all departments.
Key Responsibilities
The Safety Supervisor will be involved in the following activities :
- Establishing strategic safety programs and implementing critical programs to achieve the plant's safety goals
- Creating safety standards and procedures to reduce workplace risks and ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements
- Assisting with accident investigations and providing recommendations for corrective measures
- Maintaining knowledge of EHS regulations and laws to provide expertise and problem-solving
- Facilitating compliance with environmental and safety standards through audits, inspections, and recordkeeping
- Delivering proactive employee training on safety topics
- Coordinating with vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with safety programs
- Overseeing the Emergency response program, security program, and fire protection assets
- Administering respiratory protection and hearing conservation programs
Required Skills
- Detailed knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other industry environmental, health, and safety standards
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to develop and implement environmental and safety policies and training
- Knowledge of manufacturing practices, particularly in the food industry
- Flexibility to adjust work hours and priorities as needed
- Ability to work well in both team and independent environments
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational / Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field preferred
- Certification in an EHS related discipline and / or further education is a plus
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS program management in a manufacturing environment
