Media Relations Strategist

Job Summary :

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Media Relations Strategist to join our communications team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining positive public images for our organization, creating media strategies, and handling press relations.

They should have a proven track record of managing PR campaigns, developing strong media relationships, working with C-suite executives and producing compelling content that generates visibility and brand awareness.

This position is currently remote, with the possibility of working hybrid from a Miami office.

Key Responsibilities :

• Develop and implement PR strategies : Create comprehensive public relations plans, press releases and deployment, media pitches, and campaigns to promote the brand.
• Media Relations : Establish and nurture strong relationships with journalists, editors, influencers, and other media professionals.

Proactively secure media coverage in print, broadcast, and online outlets.

• Content Creation : Write and edit press releases, articles, speeches, and other public-facing content to ensure consistent messaging and tone.
• Crisis Management : Develop and execute crisis communication strategies when needed, ensuring timely responses and media coverage.
• Event Coordination : Plan and manage press conferences, media tours, and other public events. Provide media training and support to executives and / or CheckedUp team.
• Monitor Media Coverage : Track media coverage and measure the effectiveness of PR efforts, preparing detailed reports for internal and client use.
• Social Media Management : Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure alignment between PR strategies and social media engagement.
• Partner Relations : Serve as a key point of contact for CheckedUp re : media placements and partners, providing regular updates on PR activities.

Required Qualifications :

• Experience : 3+ years of proven experience as a publicist or in a related PR role.
• Education : Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
• Communication Skills : Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Media Network : Established network of media contacts across various platforms.
• Campaign Management : Experience in managing PR campaigns and coordinating events.
• Project Management : Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Organizational Skills : Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
