Our client is currently seeking a Operations Technician I

Position Description

• Role Title : Automation Technician
• Duration : 6 months (with potential for extension)
• Work Location : (select one) Hybrid / Fully Onsite / Fully Remote (ex / Hybrid work : Tues-Thurs in the office. Monday & Friday remote)
• Fully onsite : Verily, 269 E. Grand Ave, South San Francisco
• Work Schedule : (ex / Normal PST business hours, Monday - Friday) - 8 : 30-5 : 00 Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue, Wed (working weekends is required)

Project Overview : (Share 2-3 sentences about the BUSINESS)

• The Debug Project seeks to reduce the number of wild mosquitoes, and by doing so, reduce the spread of the diseases they carry.
• We do this by producing and releasing a large number of non-biting sterile male mosquitoes, using what’s known as the sterile insect technique (SIT).

Overall Responsibilities : (Share 2-3 sentences about the POSITION)

• Work multiple roles in a production / factory environment
• Operate and maintain automated mosquito rearing and sorting systems
• Flag issues and provide feedback for hardware / software / process improvements and proactively request or provide help, from / for other teammates based on daily priorities.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities : (3+ bullets of the main responsibilities on the assignment)

• Operating, cleaning and maintaining mosquito rearing and sorting equipment.
• Assist with day-to-day mosquito production operations, provide feedback on workflow improvement and low-level troubleshooting of technical issues
• Ensure mosquitoes remain within proper containment at all times.

Mandatory Skills / Qualifications : (All skills, both technical and soft, required to be successful in the role)

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong verbal / written communication skills (in English), ability to follow direction and complete tasks independently with minimal supervision, willingness to learn, ask questions, and identify areas for improvement
• Able work weekends and arrive by 8 : 45am every workday
• Ability to stand / walk around for long periods (often 6-8hrs a day)
• Fast learner; attention to detail.

Non-Essential Skills / Qualifications : (Skills that would be nice to have but are not essential in the role)

• Background and / or interest in entomology, biology, public health, mechanical engineering, or automation.
• Technical / mechanical skills (ie : wiring, robotics, etc)

• Assemble parts for automated mosquito rearing systems Aid in testing of new automated mosquito rearing systems
