Summary
Experience+ is seeking a creative and energetic individual to join our team as a Digital Storyteller! Digital storytelling is the process of using multimedia systems to communicate a story or present an idea to an audience.
Over the span of the Fall and Winter semester, this student digital storyteller will support an Experience+ program with a chance to develop, direct, and produce student stories.
This position will involve artistry and mastery of digital storytelling skills culminating in the creation of a digital exhibit of student employee stories that includes a virtual opening to share with campus and the community.
Responsibilities*
- Work one on one with Head of the Library Research Center to learn the art of digital storytelling
- Shadow current student digital storytellers
- Collaborate with clients to craft at least one digital story per semester
- Work individually and collaboratively in a hybrid work environment for 8 hours per week
Required Qualifications*
- Currently enrolled University of Michigan-Dearborn Student - incoming undergraduate students are encouraged to apply
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Creative
- Versatile, flexible and dynamic attitude
- Ability to take direction and feedback well
- Can collaborate well with others
- Someone who loves telling stories in a multitude of ways
Desired Qualifications*
- Video production / editing
- Script writing experience is helpful
- Ability to implement the essentials of storytelling, including narrative curve, pacing, detail, and voice.
- Ability to integrate narrative, sound, and visuals into compelling short videos.
- Ability to maintain position for full academic year (September - April ) and beyond
