The Director of Finance & Accounting will direct the company's financial operations and oversee, manage, and own all Accounting responsibilities, processes, and procedures for General Accounting, Commissions Accounting, Job Accounting, Budgeting, Financial Planning & Analysis, Reporting, Treasury, Procurement and Accounts Payable, Payroll, Tax, and Insurance.
Roles & Responsibilities :
- Work closely with the Executive and Management teams to plan for strategic growth, elevate the customer experience, and improve operational efficiencies.
- Oversee a team of 1-3 employees responsible for finance, accounting, payroll, and insurance.
- Organize and oversee the work responsibilities of team members, mentors, and coaches and facilitate the development of professionals.
- Oversee daily accounting and month-end processes, including bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Analyzes and interprets the meaning of accounting records, reports, and statements and communicates findings to management.
- Keep track of all company credit card spending and make payments on credit accounts. Perform regular, periodic expense analyses and audits.
- Manage commissions accounting, calculations, records, and reporting.
- Maintain draw allocation accounting and draw balance reporting.
- Oversee project / job costing and accounting entries and perform project / job P&L audits.
- Coordinate the company's financial planning and budgeting activities
- Oversee the preparation of periodic financial statements, activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets
- Ensure reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) or international reporting standards
- Review financial details from past, present, and forecasted operations; identify development opportunities and improvements
- Oversee all aspects of treasury management, including monitoring bank account balances, preparing wire transfers, modeling cashflows, planning cash uses
- Collaborate with tax advisors to provide information needed for the annual and quarterly tax filings
- Establish and maintain knowledge of organizational procedures, internal control systems, federal and state regulations, accounting standards, and insurance compliance
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills and Experience :
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required; Masters degree preferred
- Ten years or more of professional experience required
- Five years or more of related experience required
- CPA designation preferred
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Ability to work either independently or collaboratively as needed
- Distinctly self-motivated and capable of handling multiple tasks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient financial modeling and data analytics skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and specialized accounting software
