Position Summary :
The Subcontract Project Engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of subcontractor activities on construction projects.
This role involves working closely with subcontractors, project managers, and site supervisors to ensure that subcontracted work is completed according to project specifications, on time, and within budget.
The Subcontract Project Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining the quality, safety, and efficiency of subcontracted work.
Responsibilities :
- Manage and coordinate the activities of subcontractors on the project site. Ensure that subcontractors are fully aware of project requirements, schedules, and safety protocols.
- Assist in the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets, specifically focusing on subcontracted work. Ensure that all subcontractor activities are aligned with the overall project timeline.
- Review and interpret subcontract agreements to ensure that all terms, conditions, and specifications are clearly understood and adhered to by subcontractors.
Address any contract-related issues that arise during the project.
- Track the progress of subcontracted work against the project schedule. Identify and address any delays or issues that could impact the overall project timeline.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors regarding technical issues, change orders, and other project-related concerns.
Work with project managers and other stakeholders to resolve any issues that arise.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of subcontractor activities, including work progress, inspections, change orders, and communications.
Ensure that all documentation is properly filed and accessible.
- Monitor subcontractor expenses and ensure that all work is completed within the allocated budget. Address any budgetary issues in collaboration with the project manager.
- Prepare regular reports on subcontractor performance, progress, and any issues or risks. Present these reports to project management and other stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction project management or a related role, with a focus on subcontractor management.
- Experience working on large-scale construction projects is preferred.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contracts.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- In-depth understanding of construction processes, subcontractor management, and quality control.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
