Senior Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

Responsibilities
- Support the company's efforts in creating a safe working environment for all employees by establishing comprehensive environmental, health and safety (EHS) programs.
- Assist in the preparation of governmental agency reporting paperwork including DOT-PHMSA, FDEP, FDOH, FL SERC, USEPA, USEPA-FIFRA, and Pinellas County Industrial Pretreatment Program. Maintain accuracy of preparatory documents and submittal information for proper reporting and recordkeeping.
- Identify, evaluate, and aid in the control of hazards including chemical, physical, and others that might be encountered in the workplace.
- Partner with managers and supervisors to ensure safety is integrated into day-to-day operations.
- Perform environmental monitoring including but not limited to personal and area air monitoring, noise monitoring, and indoor air quality (IAQ) investigations.
- Develop and maintain necessary records and files for efficient and compliant operation of the EHS Department.
- Develop PPE pages for products being dispensed, produced, and developed (pilots). Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for the facility.
- Develop and work with cross-functional teams to ensure PSM & RMP compliance.
- Review and prepare documents, saving them in the document management system (Master Control) or designated departmental folders; ensure cross-referencing of topics across documents.
- Participate in development, review, and implementation of EHS standards and policies.
- Prepare OSHA reporting logs, internal accident reporting systems, safety incident investigations, corrective action resolution, and weekly / monthly safety summaries and safety communications.
- Ensure physicals, exams, testing, and training are completed as directed for programs such as respiratory protection, hearing conservation, confined space entry, forklift operator, etc.
- Work with employees to ensure EHS onboarding training requirements are met, provide annual refresher training, and maintain safety-required PPE inventory, assignment, and maintenance.
- Issue requisitions and purchase orders and process invoices from outside vendors.
- Perform periodic environmental inspections of areas and identify and correct any compliance gaps.
- Perform other EHS functions, as necessary.
Qualifications
Experience in general industry and applicable regulations.The ability to customize educational programs to the needs of the business as required by applicable government agencies.The ability to communicate well with others.Must be extremely organized and keep accurate records and documentation.Ability to track trends and produce annual reporting to government agencies as required by regulations.Preferred Additional
Experience in the chemical industry, pharmaceutical and / or medical device and cosmetic industry.Strong background and knowledge of manufacturing environments, cGMP, FDA, DOT-PHMSA, FDEP, FDOH, FL SERC, USEPA, USEPA-FIFRA, Pinellas County Industrial Pretreatment Program NFPA, NIOSH, and clean room experience.Experience with local government agencies.Computer Skills
PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and a basic understanding of Microsoft media applications is required.Technical Skills and Experience
Familiarity with different types of monitoring equipment that may be needed to conduct safety analysis in work areas.Education and Training
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.Certifications in First Aid and CPR.Hazard Communication (HazCom) and DOT training.Job Details
