This position is locatedin our Headquarters Office inUpon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the duty station.
This position supports a team of highly motivated environmental professionals working to reduce the impacts of toxic chemicals.

Program Mission : The mission of the Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction Program (HWTR) is to protect Washington’s residents and environment by reducing the use of toxic chemicals, safely managing dangerous waste, preventing new contaminated sites, and cleaning up contamination.
Tele-work options for this position : This position will have a small amount of flexibility of a hybrid schedule, empowering work from home and office, providing less time in traffic and shrinking your carbon footprint.

Duties
What makes this role unique?
When you join the Hazardous Waste and Toxics Reduction (HWTR) program, you will assist colleagues who work together in a coordinated approach to protect the people and environment of Washington state from hazardous products and dangerous waste.
What you will do :
- Maintain, monitor, and evaluate the program’s purchases and supplies at headquarters.
- Assist program employees with administrative needs, including setting up meetings and workshops, making travel arrangements, and editing and proofreading complex documents.
- Perform typical reception duties, including greeting customers, directing visitors, and answering phones.
- Serve as a vital member of the program’s Administrative Team, especially in the onboarding and off-staffing of employees.
- Act as the Time Accounting Coordinator for program employees at headquarters.
- Perform various administrative duties, including processing and distributing mail, overseeing use of program media equipment, and resolving problems and responding to inquiries related to program office procedures and services.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications :
Years of required experience indicated below are full-time equivalent years. Full-time equivalent experience means that any experience where working hours were less than 40 hours per week will be prorated in order to meet the equivalency of full-time.
We would calculate this by looking at the total hours worked per week, divide this by 40, and then multiply by the total number of months worked.
Examples of the proration calculations are :
- 30 hours worked per week for 20 months : (30 / 40) x 20 months 15 months full-time equivalent
- 20 hours worked per week for 12 months : (20 / 40) x 12 months 6 months full-time equivalent
Experience for both required and desired qualifications can be gained through various combinations of formal professional employment, education, and volunteer experience.

Required experience and education :
High school graduation or equivalent
Two years of increasingly responsible secretarial office experience
Experience in reception.
Desired Qualifications :
- Experience working with the public, such as experience in sales, setting up conferences, public involvement, or the hospitality industry.
- Experience with purchasing procedures.
- Experience in fiscal operations such as bookkeeping or accounting.
