Civil engineering Senior cad designer

Reports to : Design Manger / Project Manager

Travel : 50%

Purpose

DDG is currently seeking a Civil Engineering Senior CAD Designer to join our team. The Civil Engineering Senior CAD Designer will be responsible for efficiently producing site civil engineering and / or land development design plans.

This position reports to the Design Manager or Project Manager and works closely with the civil engineers, CAD Designers, and CAD Technicians.

The Civil Engineering Senior CAD Designer position plays an important role on our engineering teams to produce well thought-out designs and quality drawing packages needed to control project construction and deliver critical solutions for our clients.

Activities + Responsibilities

• Communicate frequently with representatives for current and potential clients, politicians, municipalities, developers, and contractors.
• Participate in weekly meetings to ensure project execution is consistent with DDG core values.
• Efficiently producing site civil engineering and / or land development design plans
• Development and plotting of maps showing topographical contours, elevations, profiles, and cross-sections.
• Works closely with engineers and Design / Project Managers to lead and manage the civil design solutions chosen for the project.
• Oversee civil engineering designs and plans including drainage, grading, water, wastewater, signage and marking plans for industrial, commercial, and residential site development.
• Oversee plan-profile drawings for public infrastructure improvement projects.
• Oversee the preparation of drainage calculations, cut and fill calculations.
• Visualize and plan the geographic representation of designs for land development related projects including industrial, commercial, and municipal.
• Respect and work efficiently within the budgetary constraints established by the Design / Project Manager.
• Responsible for timely communication of project issues to Design / Project Manager for swift resolution.
• Understand and integrate : DDG CAD Standards, clarity and accuracy of documents, and client-dictated design criteria.
• Ensures that drawings meet expected production design goals.

Required Skills / Abilities

• Excellent problem-solving skills. Be able to identify and seek needed information / research skills.
• Extensive knowledge of Autodesk Civil 3D and other Autodesk tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detailed oriented

Qualifications

• Technical Certificate or Associates Degree from a computer-aided-drafting program / school
• Experience in commercial land development, including site improvement design, drainage, utilities, grading, etc.
• Demonstrated proficiency in civil land-based CAD drafting and the latest AutoCAD software.
• Operation of CAD workstations, plotters, printers, and other associated equipment to support the preparation of designs for engineering projects.
• Minimum 10 years of civil drafting

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
• Must be able to travel to various project sites.
• Must be able to access and navigate job sites and construction areas.
