Department Summary
The School of Education prepares students for careers in education and prepares them to serve in linguistically and culturally diverse communities in the North Texas region and beyond.
We strive to strengthen area school districts in the UNT-Dallas community with high quality teachers who will ultimately serve under resourced youth.
We also work directly with school district and community college partners to support recruiting. We are actively engaged with students and alumni to improve student retention and graduation rates.
Position Overview
The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for a Lecturer of Bilingual Teacher Education to commence in Fall 2024.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications :
A Ph.D., Ed.D. and / or M.Ed. in Bilingual Education, or Curriculum and Instruction (bilingual specialization), Teacher Education (Spanish linguistics or bilingual education or other related field.
ABD candidates will be considered.)
- Certification in bilingual education and bilingual supplemental.
- 18 graduate hours in bilingual education and ESL
- Demonstrated academic biliterate proficiency in Spanish and English
- Demonstrated extensive knowledge of theories and practice of bilingual education, including linguistics.
- Three years of more experience as elementary bilingual education teacher in U.S. public schools.
- Record of public engagement with bilingual parents and community groups.

Preferred Qualifications
- Hold an additional EC12 certification for Spanish, EC6 certification for Spanish, EC6 certificate in Reading and an ESL supplemental
- 18 graduate hours in reading and ESL
- Demonstrated intercultural communication skills with multicultural populations
- Experience using technology in teaching
- Experience designing and teaching hybrid and online courses
- Academic experience working on a campus with culturally diverse students, faculty, and staff.
- PK3 Spanish dual language or transitional bilingual teacher of record
