Summary
The Advisor, Supporter Engagement and Fundraising is responsible for developing strategies to engage and retain supporters and manage all aspects of the direct response marketing retention & fundraising program;
mainly focused on direct mail. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure a cohesive supporter experience across all channels and will be accountable for maximizing our mission support revenue and delivering on both short-term key performance indicators and long-term metrics such as lifetime value and retention.
You will collaborate with key stakeholders to identify and implement ambitious, innovative and effective marketing strategies and engagement opportunities that will enable us to build a highly engaged audience that will drive a movement of millions.
What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)
Strategy & Campaign Management (30%) :
- Develop and oversee strategies to grow and optimize the mass market supporter retention and fundraising direct marketing program (primarily direct mail) with collaboration from internal stakeholders and approval of Senior Advisor.
- Manage implementation of operational plan for mass market retention & fundraising programs; including but not limited to house-file mailings, mid-level propensity donor program, welcome stream, emergency and sustainer conversion, lapsed reactivation, cultivation / retention stream and integrated campaigns.
- Develop and manage schedules with printers, creative agencies, data processors, and internal teams, ensuring campaigns are executed successfully and timely.
- Create and implement segmentation and testing strategies on all campaigns.
- Serve as direct mail strategist during integrative campaign planning.
- Advise and inform team of industry best practices and stay abreast of trends.
Campaign Execution (30%) :
- Lead the day-to-day execution of direct response marketing campaigns; mostly as it relates to direct mail.
- Streamline processes and maximize operational effectiveness to increase fundraising, retention and reactivation metrics.
- Track all creative updates and changes and facilitate the flow between Save the Children and external vendors.
- Obtain project / campaign / material legal approvals by acting as lead contact and knowledge base for legal approval process.
- Manage setup of campaign matrix, appeals and data requests to our IT department.
- Manage lettershop instructions and ensure all data processing and scheduling of campaigns is executed accurately with high operational performance and efficient interdepartmental collaboration.
Performance Analysis and Support (30%) :
- Responsible for budget creation and monitoring spend, including determining appropriate level of investments to deliver on fundraising goals.
- Maintain regular deliverables (reports, dashboards, benchmark reports, etc.) on key metrics to continually improve program and measure strategy effectiveness.
- Provide recommendations to senior leadership and extended team on direct mail campaign strategy and other supporter cultivation and integrative efforts based on short term key performance indicators and long-term metrics such as lifetime value and retention.
- Complete ad-hoc assignments as assigned.
Staff Management (10%)
Train, develop, coach, lead, and supervise staff, clearly communicating organization, division and department priorities, and how their work contributes to our mission, ensuring that the working environment continually fosters diversity, inclusion, and belonging supporting Save the Children values
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience, plus at least 5 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated direct mail experience
- Demonstrated fundraising experience
- Proven leadership, interpersonal and motivation Able to provide advice, guidance and management of several campaigns and programs
- Demonstrated ability to successfully deliver work under deadlines and competing priorities, with proven organizational and time management skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work, Excel), and Adobe skills.
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
- Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
- Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous non-profit experience.
- Experience with omni-channel campaign planning
- Experience with Salesforce CRM and Salesforce Marketing Cloud
Compensation
Save the Children is offering the following salary ranges for this position, dependent on candidate location :
- Geo 1 - NY Metro, DC, and other locations with labor costs significantly above national average : Target Salary for this position is $84,150 $94,050 base salary
- Geo 2 - Locations around the US National Labor Cost Average : Target Salary for this position is $76,500 $85,500 base salary
- Geo 3 - Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average : Target Salary for this position is $68,850 $76,950 base salary
The salary ranges listed above are for US based candidates. For candidates located outside of the US, salary ranges will be based on the salary scales of the local employer of record.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location (more information on job structure is available ).
