Overview
We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with 7 to 15 years of professional experience to be a technical lead in our Structural Engineering Division of our Dallas, Texas Office.
This position, either individually or as part of a team, is responsible for the overall design, review and coordination of light gauge steel building projects from inception through completion of construction in a multitude of markets such as multi-family, mixed-use, retail, office, industrial, and commercial.
The Senior Structural Engineer will establish and grow our Vertical Structures group focusing on project delivery, educating younger staff, and be a thought leader for their respective expertise.
They will be expected to coordinate and work closely with a multidiscipline design team throughout the entire life cycle of projects from planning stages, through the development of construction documents, and construction administration.
This individual will need to operate effectively and concurrently on multiple projects, should be self-motivated, and possess strong leadership skills with an initiative to deliver high quality, technically excellent structural designs.
This individual will also have a strong desire to collaborate with our Technology team in the development and fine-tuning of technological solutions of product delivery.

- Organize and manage structural design efforts for simultaneous projects.
- Manage and review structural engineering drawings for assigned projects including the preparation of plans, schedules and details.
- Review structural systems of concrete, steel, masonry, wood and cold-formed metal framing in conjunction with design calculations and BIM models.
- Leadership of structural design team on major ongoing structure projects.
- Quality control and timeliness of all deliverables.
- Coordination and guidance to staff assigned to projects.
- Review engineering work produced by junior engineers to ensure designs, plans, and calculations are complete and accurate.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and other firms on complex multi-discipline projects.
- Lead client communication and coordination of assigned projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college (Masters preferred)
- Professional Engineering Registration in the State where employment is located and the ability to obtain licensure in other states and / or an NCEES record within 9 months of employment
- Strong working knowledge of the International Building Code and related references
- Proficiency in RAM, RISA, Tekla Structural Designer, Enercalc, SAP2000 and other structural design software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Revit
- Good verbal communication and technical writing skills
- Ability to train and mentor entry level staff
- Ability to coordinate and communicate with clients and other disciplines
