Job Summary
The HIM Data Integrity Systems Analyst performs complex electronic health systems analysis and manages, maintains, and restores the integrity of the Master Patient Index and the electronic health record.
The HIM Data Integrity Systems Analyst is responsible for ensuring each patient has one electronic medical record containing only that patient’s information, and that the information is free of errors.
All job duties and responsibilities are performed to support the entire health system unless otherwise specified. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values with Tampa General Hospital.
Essential Functions :
- Collaborates with Data Integrity leaders in an effort to reduce errors in the electronic medical record and Master Patient Index.
- Serves as an escalation resource for the Data Integrity Specialists, answers questions and provides assistance as needed on issues related to data integrity and the Master Patient Index.
- Collaborates with Data Integrity leaders and Data Integrity Coordinator to create and maintain policies and procedures / tip sheets for workflows as related to data integrity functions.
- Proactively identifies and communicates patient safety risks concerning the integrity of the electronic health record and Master Patient Index.
- Monitors Epic Care Everywhere messages and resolves errors on a daily basis.
- Monitors Epic Interface Error work queues and resolves errors on a daily basis.
- Monitors Chart Correction reports in Epic and collaborates with users and IT to resolve issues on a daily basis.
- Reviews and corrects confirmed patient overlays in Epic on a daily basis.
- Facilitates Hospice Account Splits in Epic on an as needed basis.
- Resolves identity issues as related to DOE patients on an as needed basis.
Qualifications
Five (5) years of experience in Health Information Management or Information Technology within a health system or acute care environment, or three (3) years of experience as an HIM Data Integrity Specialist Sr at TGH.
Must be knowledgeable of healthcare technology, familiar with computerized information systems, word processing systems, and various hospital information systems.
Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and educate others on systems used within the department and the hospital, as needed.
Demonstrates experience in the development, implementation, and management of health information systems.
Technical Competencies and Skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA and Joint Commission standards related to data integrity.
- Knowledge of contents and standards pertaining to the quality of medical records.
- Knowledge of management of the Master Patient Index.
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Skill in collecting, analyzing, and organizing data in order to support operations and decision making.
- Ability to be self-directed and learn at a fast pace.
- Ability to apply advanced analytical skills necessary for identification and proper resolution of technical issues related to data integrity and the Master Patient Index.
