Scheduler (CNA Required)
The Scheduler is primarily responsible for scheduling nursing staff and other elements of staff support for licensed nurse, certified medication aides and certified nursing assistants.
Previous scheduling experience preferred.
Scheduler
1. Develops and posts work schedules at least two weeks in advance.
2. Ensures timely Certified Nurse Aide (CNAs) assignment to meet needs of new admissions as well as existing residents.
3. Maintains schedule on a daily basis of any staffing changes or resident status changes and communicates accordingly.
4. Facilitates the timely completion of paper work and data entry pertinent / necessary to fulfill job duties.
5. Maintains tracking system for CNA annual license renewal and communicates to the Kentucky Board of Nursing, health center nursing administration, and the human resources department.
6. Maintains a current listing of employee contact numbers for call-in. Keeps a pool of replacements and coordinates vacations and time-off requests.
Maintains records of employees who miss shifts; produces reports.
7. Notifies the Director of Nursing (DON) or designee of short staffing situations; contacts replacement personnel and modifies schedule when required.
8. Coordinates time-off requests with the DON or designee.
9. Coordinates with DON or designee to secure contract labor when necessary.
10. Communicates with residents and their families / caregivers, and with healthcare professionals and outside vendors.
11. Communicates staff assignments to managers and staff.
12. Demonstrates knowledge of the computer software program and of proper documentation procedures.
13. Personifies outstanding customer service to co-workers, clients and vendors by acting as a subject matter resource in a timely, considerate and friendly manner, always maintaining the Golden Rule approach;
practices patience and kindness.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Required Education : High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
Required Experience : 2 years experience in long term care and / or scheduling
Preferred Experience : long term care setting
Required License and / or Certification : Certified Medical Technician (CMT) and / or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
