Considerations will be given to applicants who can show expertise and creative ideas for their role as researcher, mentor, and teacher in the physics program.

We seek an expert with a strong record of research in astrophysics. The ideal candidate will also seek to build collaborations, as appropriate, with current astrophysics faculty whose areas of expertise include gravitational wave astrophysics (theory, data analysis, or source modeling), computational relativity, relativistic and multi-messenger astrophysics.

Additionally, observing and modeling radio loud quasars and microquasars, radio galaxies and associated AGN, as well as all sky surveys and use of telescopes are areas of interest.

Experience in leveraging computational methods, including machine learning and artificial intelligence would be synergistic with other investments at URI and in the region.

The Physics Department, College of Arts and Sciences and URI are committed to building and supporting a diverse, inclusive, and equitable community of students and scholars.
