The Division of Pediatric Neurology of Albany Medical Center is looking for two full-time Advanced Practice Providers to work with our pediatric population.
As part of the growing Division of Pediatric Neurology, you would work alongside two full-time MD’s, two part-time MD’s, and one Physician Assistant.
The Division of Pediatric Neurology also includes a neuropsychologist, social worker, three clinical support staff, and two administrative support staff.
This role would entail working in the outpatient setting with a focus on the evaluation and management of patients with common pediatric neurological disorders including epilepsy, headaches, and movement disorders like tics.
Our division participates in several multidisciplinary clinics including patients with brain tumors / neurofibromatosis, the care of patients with complex medical needs, and neonates which would allow opportunities for further specialization and professional development if desired.
In particular, one APP will be asked to work closely with our neuromuscular specialist to assist in the creation of a pediatric neuromuscular clinic.
This will include assisting with gene therapy and newborn screening programs as well as the ongoing care of patients in that clinic including those with muscular dystrophy and spinal muscular atrophy as part of a multidisciplinary team including physical therapy, physiatry, pulmonary, cardiology and genetics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of neurology and child development including anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to patients presenting with neurologic complaints.
- Conduct patient assessments and complete physical examinations, order and interpret medical laboratory test results, diagnose medical conditions, and direct appropriate pharmacologic or supportive therapies.
- Complete accurate patient coding for effective billing and maintain accurate and detailed patient medical reports.
- Act as a mentor to new staff and / or APP level students.
Qualifications
- License and active registration as a registered nurse / nurse practitioner or physician assistant in New York State
- Master's Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Facility with computer programs utilized in the office setting including the Microsoft suite of products and the electronic health record EPIC (this will be taught if needed)
- Must project a professional image and earn the confidence of others.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
- Must always be HIPAA compliant.
Salary range commensurate based on experience : $116,000-$135,000
