The Senior Data Analyst plays a crucial role in the development, expansion, and maintenance of our BI and data analytics platform.
This includes working with business owners and executive management as well as the sales, operations, and financial teams to understand their needs, document business requirements, identify data mining opportunities, and design solutions.
The Senior Data Analyst’s solutions will result in real-time tools such as dashboards, traditional period-based reports, and AI / ML-enabled analytics tools.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Maintain the BI platform for data consistency and accuracy; organize data refreshes for timely reporting.
- Serve as an overall subject matter expert on the BI platform; train users and implement methods for promoting organizational intelligence about the data presented.
- Design, adapt, and build data sources (views, stored procedures, cubes, etc.).
- Validate and maintain data integrity and accuracy (automate data integrity testing where possible).
- Define, configure, and maintain data flows; ensure that data flows are structured to adequately meet reporting requirements.
- Reconcile inconsistencies in data as necessary.
- Identify and document reporting requirements.
- Produce operational reports and KPI-based dashboards per requirements.
- Ensure reports are factual and unbiased.
- Independently mine company data.
- Produce KPIs and provide insights to assist management in operational decision making; produce actionable insights and thresholds that align with organizational objectives.
- Ensure row and column-based security requirements are established and being honored.
- Document and enforce data lifecycle and retention policies.
- Document data source and calculation (formulas); create user reference material that promotes transparency and consistency.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education / Experience / Licenses / Certifications :
Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, mathematics or statistics, information technology, or electrical / electronic engineering required.
Related field or equivalent experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
- Master’s degree a plus.
- 6+ years working on a successful BI team required.
- 4+ years of SQL Server experience (other database experience will be considered) required.
- Experience in the logistics (carrier) industry a plus.
Skills Required :
- Ability to understand complex business systems.
- Demonstrable expertise understanding data warehouse architecture.
- Demonstrable expertise reading T-SQL (other SQL experience will be considered).
- Ability to read and understand multiple types of ETL data flows.
- Ability to reverse-engineer reports.
- Demonstrable expertise documenting data lineage.
- Demonstrable expertise with Power BI Service or Fabric; experience with Tableau a plus.
- Experience in AI and ML-enabled data visualization and reporting a plus.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions :
- Normal work schedule : Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
- After-hours and weekend on-call as needed (rare but may occur).
- Majority of time spent in an office environment.
