Mirus Bio is expanding and has an immediate opening for a Cost Accountant who will report to the Director of Finance. Their primary responsibility will be to own and maintain the cost accounting setup / process and reporting within the ERP;

doing so in a timely manner that complies with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). They will perform advanced cost accounting analyses to compare estimated costs to actual costs and prepare a variety of related budget reports.

This will include interfacing with other departments like Product Development, Operations, and Quality.

Their secondary responsibility will be to support the accounting team. Additional responsibilities will vary based on need;

they will likely include assisting in the preparation of financial reports, month, and quarter end close, budgets, and forecasts along with providing support and backup to critical accounting functions.

This is a full-time on-site position. This role works cross-functionally with all departments within Mirus Bio.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Cost Accounting
• Ensures cost accounting processes are robust, understood, and followed across the appropriate functions.
• Establish and maintain BOMs, Routing, labor, and overhead rates.
• Determines fixed costs such as salaries, rent, and insurance.
• Predicts, plans, and records variable costs such as purchases of raw material, labor, and operation costs, with understanding of Life Science industry norms regarding what is COGS.
• Reviews and analyzes actual costs compared to estimated costs, identifies inaccuracies, and reports on variances.
• Reviews, analyzes, and reports actual profit margins at a product family and SKU level.
• Prepares necessary departmental and company-wide budgeting reports.
• Improves and implements financial controls, ensuring accurate control and accounting of assets and accounts.
• Become an expert in the ERP system, identifying and fixing transactional issues as they arise and taking the lead on improvements and upgrades.
• Staff Accounting
• Provide support and backup for A / P, A / R, and Payroll
• Assist with month-end financial closing processes, like reviewing and reconciling accounts for accuracy, including inventory.
• Prepare financial reports and various accounting statements.
• File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Provide audit assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
• Ability to work on and take ownership of various projects as needed.
• Demonstrate behavior outlined within the Mirus Bio Employee Handbook.
• Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

Education :

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, required

Professional :

• At least three years of experience in cost accounting required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Proficient in ERP system(s), Microsoft Business Central preferred but not required.
• Thorough understanding of accounting procedures.
• Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
• Ability to manage confidential information.

This position has a salary range of $80,000 - $110,000 per year and will be commensurate with experience.
