The Senior Research Associate provides deep knowledge, specializing in applied research at the intersection of psychology and law, specifically in child welfare court systems which increases the capacity and performance of the project and team to fulfill goals and meet deliverable deadlines.

As a member of JBS leadership team, the Senior Research Associate functions in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary work team and is expected to build relationships with clients and secure new business where possible.

The Senior Research Associate directs study design and implementation, quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis, development of all procedures used in studies, and presentation of research results both orally and in writing to a variety of audiences.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Writes and identifies graphics for reports and other deliverables
  • Provides direction and strategic leadership for project or group of research and evaluation tasks
  • Ensures accountability for significant deliverables on a contract
  • Directs and manages efficient and effective use of project or task resources (e.g., funding, staffing, equipment)
  • Provides leadership and expertise for research design and methodology
  • Monitors project or task budget and expenditures and proactively addresses potential issues
  • Ensures accountability to research methods that adhere to ethical guidelines and contractual requirements
  • Provides thought leadership (e.g., presentation of or publishing research findings, seeks opportunities to share best practices with other projects)
  • Data analysis - inferential statistics, simulations using advanced statistical programming
  • Data analysis -Qualitative - codebook development, code data, write up debriefs or assist with data visualization
  • Database manager - designs data bases, responsible for reviewing data quality, data cleaning, harmonization
  • Oversees survey administration including recruiting, training and supervising survey workers / interviewers
  • Implements survey sampling, knowledge of data science, SQL data analysis, ability to implement calculation of complex sampling weights
  • Survey Manager Quant or Qual Data collection training, data collector management, and quality assurance
  • Studies design / methodologist (sampling, weighting)
  • Trains, develops, and mentors employee's research and project skills, knowledge, and abilities
  • Manages project budgets, schedules, and staffing
  • Develops, monitors, and manages tasks and deliverables for contract compliance
  • Leads and participates in capture planning and business development activities to align with Center and Corporate strategic goals and initiatives
  • Leads the preparation of client-ready written materials (e.g., issue briefs, case studies, and other materials to convey study findings, best practices, and recommendations) designed to communicate information clearly in a manner tailored to the intended audiences.
  • Serves as JBS' representative and outward facing for client communication

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS :

Education :

  • PhD and 10 years of experience comprising of 7 years of focus experience.
  • Masters and 12 years of experience comprising of 9 years of focus experience.

Skills :

  • Strong problem solving, analysis, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to write clearly and concise copy with attention to detail and target audience focus.

Language :

English fluency (oral and written)

Software Proficiency :

Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk or computer workstation.
  • Regularly uses a computer, keyboard, and mouse.
  • Normal or corrected vision to read documents, view computer screens, and perform tasks that require visual accuracy.
  • Ability to hear and understand spoken information in person and over the phone.
  • Minimal lifting and carrying may be required, typically light office supplies or documents.
  • Ability to move within the office environment to access equipment, files, and interact with colleagues.
  • Ability to handle occasional stress related to deadlines, workloads, or challenging tasks.
