The Physical Therapy Assistant provides physical therapyservices including treatment, implementation and documentation under thedirection of the Physical Therapist and in accordance with the physician’s planof care.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities : Provides physicaltherapy according to the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapistand in accordance with the physician’s plan of care according to stateregulationsTreats individuals to help relieve pain, develops orrestores function, and maintains Amergisum functional mobility and performanceContinues to assess the client’s living environment forbarriers, safety risks and equipment needsDirects and aids clients in active, passive and resistivetherapeutic exercises, muscle re- education, functional gait and balancetraining, transfer activities, and prosthetic trainingInstructs care and use of assistive mobility devices, bracesand prosthetic or orthotic devicesUtilizes physical agents, including but not limited to heat,cold, water, light, electricity, ultrasound and massageCleans and maintains equipment used in the field inaccordance with manufactures directions and per policyInstructs and educates individual, family, and / or caregiversin the use of and care of therapeutic appliancesReports reaction(s) to treatment or change(s) in conditionto physician and Physical TherapistIdentifies individual and family / caregiver needs for othersupportive services and notifies Physical TherapistMaintains communication with the company and other personnelcaring for the client to assure that their efforts effectively complement eachother and support the objectives outlined in the plan of carePrepares and submits clinical progress-summaries based onthe progress toward goals and responses to treatmentParticipates in discharge planningProvides / submits accurate and timely documentation that isconsistent with the plan of careComplies with applicable local, state, and federal laws andregulations regarding professional standards and practice standardsPerforms other duties as assigned / necessaryMinimum Requirements : Current licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in thestate of practiceGraduate of an accredited school of Physical TherapyAssistantOne (1) year of prior professional Physical TherapyAssistant experience preferredComplies with all relevant professional standards ofpracticeParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirementsAbility to effectively elicit / provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills;
