OFFERING A $2500 SIGN-ON BONUS PAYABLE IN TWO INSTALLMENTS - 50% AFTER 90 DAYS - 50% AFTER ONE YEAR

Major Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for all principal accountabilities of a Physical Therapist I
  • Meets all principal accountabilities and activities as identified for a Physical Therapist I.
  • Assumes a more involved, complex patient caseload
  • Participation in educational and mentoring activities with Physical therapy students, medical students, peers, hospital staff and / or the community.
  • Assists with clinical education through training and instructions of student in the clinical setting when available.
  • Promotes Physical Therapy to other professionals and the community through participation in educational and marketing programs.
  • Provides in-services to peers in Rehab Services and hospital staff.
  • Assumes role of mentor for new team or program members.
  • Assists with orientation process for new staff members.
  • Responsible for staying abreast of clinical and operational developments.
  • Attends continuing education programs.
  • Keeps informed of changes occurring within Rehab Services and Advocate Healthcare
  • Participation in Rehab Services growth and operations.
  • Assumes responsibility for major project or committee supporting established goals and objectives.
  • Participates in development of treatment protocols, service policies and procedures, and clinical competencies.
  • Participates in process improvement and quality assurance activities.
  • Assumes other related responsibilities as assigned.

Licensure :

Physical Therapist

Education / Experience Required :

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school
  • Minimum 2 years of pertinent clinical experience
  • Maintains continuing education requirements as mandated by professional standards

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Independence with providing advanced level of clinical skills and expertise
  • Recognizes needs and behaviors of specific age groups of patients treated.
  • Licensure to practice in Illinois as a Physical Therapist
  • Current BLS Certification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :

  • May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases; direct contact with body fluid.
  • Pushing, pulling, lifting, and transferring patients. Ability to lift very heavy weight requirements according to department of Labor definitions.
  • Ability to assist, escort, transfer, and respond to patient needs for extended periods of time.
  • Required to work on weekends, holidays and / or early evening hours as assigned, based on department guidelines. Off campus locations as assigned.
  • This requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 08 / 01 / 2014. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.

For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.

Unique patient lifting / movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
