Job Objective :

As the Withdrawal Management Supervisor, you will work directly with the Medical Director to monitor the Withdrawal Management (WM) unit.

Assure compliance is upheld with the accrediting, certification, licensing, and funding requirement. Provides basic nursing care to monitor the client's medical status.

Evaluate the physical needs of each client and identify priority problems. Provide for physical, medical, emotional needs for all clients while ensuring that the Mission of The Salvation Army is effectively carried out.

What You Will Do :

  • Conducts admission interviews by collecting medical, social, emotional, and demographic data and assess for appropriateness of admission to Detox based on written policies and the Utilization Review Manual
  • Chart in Client case records all information relating to any chronic or acute illnesses, known withdrawal complications, and all medications given to client
  • Ensure the correct dispensing of medication as directed and prescribed by the physician
  • Maintain case records according to the CARF procedures assuring all information documented; is accurate and current. All chart entries need to be signed with credentials
  • Observe and chart clients for withdrawal signs, unusual activity or behaviors, verbal complaints of physical or psychological problems, and report to either the Physician or the Clinical Director
  • Chart thoroughly all pertinent data, including but not limited to : medical, health condition, physician's orders, complications related to withdrawal and general health, vital signs, medication monitoring, description of course of withdrawal, or other incidents.

Document all pertinent observations in the client's chart

  • Perform technical treatment as indicated and / or instructed by or directed by written Physician orders or the Clinical Director
  • Accurately prepare, check, observe, and record all medications taken when on duty
  • Wipe mattress and pillows with viro-check after each client has been discharged and change linens as needed
  • Provide emergency First Aid and CPR care to those clients who exhibit the need
  • Facilitate referrals for the clients to provide community resources not provided by SAHLC
  • Promote positive public relations by using the professional telephone manners, presenting a pleasant and supportive attitude toward the client and their family members or friends, and cooperating with personnel form other outside agencies
  • In accordance with the CFR-42 Federal Law and The Salvation Army policies, maintain client confidentiality at all times
  • Facilitate a seamless and comprehensive transfer of information from one shift to the next
  • Cooperate and communicate with other Clinical Staff in the transfer process of the client to different levels of care
  • Lead department meetings and attend agency staff meetings as scheduled including In-Service Meetings
  • Report maintenance repairs and services to the Clinical Director and Facility Operations Manager
  • Monitor and document client's physical and medical status by providing direct nursing care
  • Carry out Physician's orders as assigned and provide support DMA's in conducting the tasks
  • Provide medical information and insight into the treatment planning on each Withdrawal Management client with the Treatment Team
  • Attend Clinical staff meetings as assigned by the Clinical Director
  • Evaluate the needs and services on the Withdrawal Management unit in order to develop or revise policies as needed; prepare recommendations to the Clinical Director for approval
  • Meet with the Medical Director regularly to assure directives of Physician are completed
  • Assure used, outdated, and unclaimed medication is destroyed according to the established procedures
  • Schedule annual First Aid, CPR, and Universal Precaution's training for all SAHLC Staff
  • Order and assure proper supply of medications along with medial, health, and hygiene supplies
  • Assure all health evaluations of new staff are conducted by the supervising Physician. Maintain written records of all inoculations given to staff and secure in a locked file cabinet
  • Arrange for and assure proper disposal of infectious and Biohazardous wastes
  • Complete monthly inventory of all First Aid & Universal Precaution Kits
  • Prepare monthly statistics and submit to Administration. Month ends on last Sunday
  • Recruit, interview, and recommend for hire to the Clinical Director and the Compliance Specialist
  • Prepare bi-weekly work schedules for the Withdrawal Management staff. Review and approve any changes o their timecards as needed
  • Work with the Clinical Director or Designee to assure the coordination and integration of Withdrawal Management activities
  • Provide on-going information and allow for open communication to the Detox Staff regarding policy and procedure changes
  • Assist in the annual employee performance evaluation process working the Clinical Director or Designee
  • Participate and provide Staff support in the quarterly Infection Control meeting and prepare minutes as assigned
  • Work assigned hours and additional hours as needed to provide back-up and coverage on the Detox Unit to ensure coverage of facility operations.
  • Is provided a company cell phone and will be on call 24 hours a day 7 days a week to triage questions and support coverage if needed
  • Responsible for running INSPECT reports and Criminal Background checks for all clients entering Detoxification program
  • Respond to medical emergencies and call the physician as needed for orders
  • Oversees all regular and part-time staff, including hiring, training, and planning, assigning, and directing work; coaching and motivation the staff;

appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

  • Able to perform all duties and responsibilities of medical staff
  • Ensures that nursing policies and procedures are current and reflect the standards established by regulatory agencies
  • Competency in scheduling of staff for a 24 / 7 coverage, facility
  • Other tasks as assigned by leadership

Minimum Qualifications : The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and / or abilities required for this position.

Education : Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Indiana preferred. Minimum Licensed Practical Nurse is required

Background Checks : Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.

Experience : Two years of supervisory / management experience in the nursing field with emphasis on substance use disorders preferred.

Must be CPR certified.

Certifications : Must have a valid driver's license and maintain The Salvation Army Driver's qualification standard; must complete Safe From Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.

Skills / Abilities :

  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft products and ability to learn electronic reporting systems.

Working Conditions : Work is performed in a typical office environment; Full-time position; may require some weekend and evening work.
