Summary
The Structural Engineering Associate performs structural analyses of all levels of complexity on existing communication structures (including towers, water tanks, platforms, mounts, billboards, rooftop structures, and their respective foundations) and prepares formal, written reports detailing the capacities and recommendations for modifications needed to bring the structure into compliance with the applicable code.
The incumbent may review new tower designs, design tower foundations, and design basic-to-complex modifications to existing structures and foundations.
The incumbent may also provide quality control review of engineering services performed by other engineers. This position also requires the performance of inspections related field work.
The incumbent will perform climbed inspections of existing communications structures for the purpose of documenting current conditions through photographs, measurements, and notes.

- Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering or a related field required
- Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination preferred
- 0-2 years of structural engineering experience
- Telecommunication experience is preferred
- Proficiency with structural analysis software
- Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record to operate a company vehicle

Essential Functions
- Review requests for engineering services to determine that adequate information is provided to complete service.
- Review telecom structures and foundations for existing, proposed and reserved tenant configurations
- Perform analyses on projects of all levels of complexity using hand calculations, structural analysis software, and other accepted methods
- Design modification for tower reinforcing, extensions and foundations
- Review Quality Assurance (QA) and final review on structural analysis reports
- Generate required engineering reports
- Answer structure-related inquiries from internal and external customers
- Keep abreast of new technical methods and development related to tower engineering
- Complete specialized engineering assignments requiring complex calculations
- Perform inspections, tower mappings and post construction inspections on telecommunications towers.
- Provide assistance on unusual problems
- Ensure accurate project status reporting to facilitate accurate customer and sales reporting
Physical Demands and Work Environment Work is split between being performed in climate-controlled internal office environment under normal office conditions and being performed externally, on-site, outdoors, with exposure to the elements of nature working under normal to extreme construction conditions.
Employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear.
Employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, and crouch, lift weight, climb or exert a force up to a maximum of 75 pounds.
