Summary :
Barr is seeking a Human Resource Compliance Specialist to support the development and implementation of Human Resource (HR) compliance programs, policies, reporting, and practices.
The person in this role will serve as a subject matter expert and work closely with HR teams to guide HR policy and practices related to compliance, legal, and legislative requirements across the United States and Canada.
This individual will collaborate with the HR manager and stakeholders to review the ongoing maintenance of policies to ensure they are updated and compliant.
They will be expected to stay abreast of changing laws and act accordingly. This person will also manage compliance reporting including Affirmative Action Plan (AAP), EEOC (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission), Vets, etc.
tracking Barr’s Good Faith Efforts; and project management of Barr’s annual DEI report.
This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills, a high level of attention to detail, the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, and a strong capability to influence and lead without authority.
Responsibilities include :
Collaborate with the HR manager to identify and prioritize HR policies that need to be developed and / or updated
Facilitate any change in practices, policies, and / or systems in support of federal, state, and provincial legal and compliance requirements
Monitor, research, and analyze legislative and legal changes, interpret relevant laws and regulations and potential implications across the geographies in which Barr resides and has employees, and provide recommendations and advice on necessary policy or practice changes
Partner with HR staffing teams to ensure alignment on our people policies and program
Inform remote work request processes, while reviewing employment laws, regulations, and compliance to make a recommendation
Analyze employment-related data and prepare required reports, compiling raw data into usable reports to assist with reporting needs of the HR team
Manage recruiting disposition codes in coordination with HR manager and recruitment partners
Stay abreast of the evolving HR compliance landscape and proactively partner with HR teams and general counsel, as needed, regarding upcoming changes
Manage unemployment claims and collaborate with the HR manager on appeals
Manage immigration process and practices for those joining Barr as well as employees traveling between the United States and Canada
Coordinate of Barr’s annual DEI report
In collaboration with HR staffing team, Corporate HR, and the DEI ERG committee, project manage the annual DEI work plan
Responsible for all compliance reporting, i.e., AAP, EEOC, and Vets per federal contractor status
Gather and maintain Good Faith Efforts for AAP reporting while participating in DEI efforts of the organization.
Respond to client questions and requests regarding Barr’s DEI plans
Minimum Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in human resources or related area
Three or more years of experience in human resource compliance and policy program oversight, including compliance reporting and employment law
Knowledge of immigration laws
Project management experience
Ability to work in a fast-paced and evolving environment
Clear, tactful, and professional oral and written communication
Ability to manage stakeholder expectations professionally, while influencing towards compliance
Collaborative, process-oriented, and organized approach to daily tasks in a dynamic organization
Ability to maintain the utmost integrity, sensitivity, and confidentiality in all we do
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously, completing assignments on-time and with accuracy
Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the future
A hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office.
This position can be based out of Barr's Minneapolis or Duluth, Minnesota,offices.
